Independent Black Media
Onumba Communications established
Internet presence on February 21, 2003 as a modest tribute
to our beloved leader the late honorable Minister Malcolm
X.
On this day in 1965, Minister Malcolm
X was assassinated as he delivered a speech at the Audubon
Ballroom in Manhattan New York.
On this day this year,
Onumba Communications joined a handful of dedicated
pool of black independent media establishments committed
to addressing the information and resources needs of
the global black community. The information services
we offer as well as some of the community events we
plan to hold are free and geared towards sustaining
the vibrancy of the black community.
We know that there is no paucity
of organizations seeking your financial help, from the
National Defense Council to Protect the Whales to the
National Wild Turkey Federation to the numerous organizations
out there determinedly toiling to preserve the rights
of spotted owls.
There is also a deep roster a black
organizations asking for your help. Without a doubt,
these black groups offer credible services to the community
and supporting them is immeasurably laudable. The community
of black independent media groups, including Onumba
Communications would also like to ask for your help
so that we can sustain this vital service we provide
to the black community.
Think about it for a moment. How
much of contemporary and historical issues of significant
importance to black people receive satisfactory coverage
by the dominant news networks of CNN, NBC, ABC, FOX,
MSNBC and others?
Far too often, black faces
grace our TV sets only when a brother is handcuffed
and escorted to the police cruiser or when there is
a smoking gun drug bust. Tragically, these depressing
and disparaging negative images to a large degree results
to a near complete drowning out of the immensely positive
and laudable part of who we are as a people.
As a credible part of the
remedy, we must provide an alternative information depot
to black children and adults that highlight positive
role models and constructive social attitudes worthy
of emulation and applause in the black communities.
Let us highlight our visible role
models for black children to identify with, rather than
dangle our seductive pathological vices for them to
indulge in.
Onumba Communications is deeply
committed to offering a comprehensive package of alternative
stream of information to nurture the intellectual vibrancy
of black children while providing adults open access
to vital research center that educates, entertains,
informs and empowers.
We are profoundly excited about
launching this venture. We strongly believe that it
offers vital services to the black community. We hope
that you will find the information on this web site
very useful and abundantly reflective.
We would appreciate a financial
contribution of any amount from you to sustain the level
of work necessary for staying the course and fulfilling
our stated mission of serving the black community. Please
be rest assured that whatever financial contribution
you make will undoubtedly be used to improve and expand
the resources we offer.
If you decide to make a contribution,
please make check payable to: Onumba Communications.
