About Ike

Ike Mgbatogu is a columnist for the Ohio Call & Post Newspaper, covering national and Ohio politics and reporting news on the immigrant community in central Ohio. He is a contributor for ThisWeek Newspaper, reporting news from Sunbury, Big Walnut and Berkshire communities in Delaware County. He also writes for the columbusunderground.com, a popular political and entertainment news blog.

Mr. Mgbatogu is a freelance writer, researcher and editor for Onumba.com, a Columbus, Ohio based on-line black news commentary magazine published by Onumba Communications, Inc. His writings provoke both interest and controversy, a testimony to his hard-hitting commentaries and the astuteness of his analysis.

Mr. Mgbatogu has interviewed many politicians, business leaders and celebrities including U.S. President Barack Obama, Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman, Black Enterprise publisher Earl G. Recognized for his passion, dedication and work in the community, Columbus Mayor Coleman recently appointed Mr. Mgbatogu to serve on the City of Columbus New Americans Community Advisory Council, where he assists the mayor in shaping policies affecting the immigrant community in Columbus.

Mr. Mgbatogu’s work was profiled by the Columbus Dispatch, Alive Magazine, Ohio State University Lantern and Ohio Today and his commentaries widely quoted, notably in a keynote speech by South African Minister for Public Service and Administration Geraldine Frazer-Moleketi, at an international conference on ways to implement effective public service in Africa.

Mr. Mgbatogu is a founding member of the National Executive Committee for the National Progressive Leadership Caucus (NPLC) and director of policy research for the organization, a group founded and chaired by honorable state Senator Ray Miller.

Mr. Mgbatogu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science (cum laude) and a Master of Public Administration degree, from The Ohio University, Athens, Ohio.
